Just right before the Covid lockdown happened in 2020, the two long time friends Van Bonn & Luis Baltes met in Hamburg to combine a spontaneous studio session with a concert visit of Napalm Death and Rotten Sound in the evening. Sucked in by the vibe between the two heads, they skipped the concert and got lost in sound. The result is the dubby hymn Natural and the free play Cosmos that they recorded a real piano for.
What is there more to say about this release, that made me happy on so many levels. Creating music with my friend Luis is always fun, releasing the music on Freund der Familie is next level and the cherry on the top is the remix by Mathimidori.
The vinyl version was strictly limited and sold out in no time. But you can find the ep on all relevant digital music platforms, so there are plenty options to enjey the vibes.
As I am a bit late with writing about the release, let me just mention, that the clear purple vinyl sold out in no time. It is uncertain if there will be a repress. Luckily, the ep is also released digitally. Hence you can find it on all relevant digital music platforms.
Van Bonn & Upwellings join forces to showcase journeys of different moods and styles of dub techno on their new ep called Cloudwalker. The opening Cloudwalker Dub is moving in between the triangle of dubby stories told in Bristol, Copenhagen and Vienna. Harmonious, bass heavy and with a special attention to the little something. Bridging is raw and deep. It sucks you in and the harmonies tickle on your skin during a sunrise on a mysty morning. The following Dilated Spaces is reduced to its bare minimum and proofs that when you go deep and minimal, there is always the possibility to go even deeper and reduce the elements even further. Up next is Deepchord co-founder Mike Schommer who directs his remix of Bilateral Kite in moody and texture rich territories conducted by a straight forward kick and dubbed out fx. King Cry Cry is a personal reminiscence to the big soul of the originators of dub.
Bilateral Kite is the first collaborational ep of French multiinstrumentalist and sound creator Upwellings and label owner Van Bonn. It was a couple of years ago on a misty November day when both producers met in person for the first time. Right from the beginning a strong bond was set due to the love both share for dub and experimental vibes that call for the universal language of the world: music that comes from the heart.
Having released dub techno related vibes across a wide range of labels and being involved in countless music projects across genre and continents Upwellings is just the right partner to hook up with Van Bonn to envision and formulate joint journeys crafted in dub.
The first release of the two is called ‘Bilateral Kite’ and kicks off with the eponymous title track. Deep and functional, full of groove, musical chords and arrangement are the obvious parameters that catch the listeners ear. ‘Porthole’ is nothing less than the counterpart to the opener. Wide sounds and chords meet modulating noise and utterly deepness in sound creation to open a door to another dimension of (almost) beatless dub techno.
From now on you will find my new ep I created with Tim Kossmann on all relevant streaming and download platforms. The ep comes with a remix from dub techno monolith Steve O’Sullivan and is released on Van Bonn Records on vinyl, too.
Finally the vinyl of my new collabo ep ‚Dual‘ is starting to hit the stores. My long time friend Tim Kossmann and me caught some vibes during an extended studio session that are now engraved in holy vinyl for eternity. 20 years ago Tim and me started with shared studio sessions and this release is the first one we do together. Have a listen to our dub techno but also housy and ambient vibes. On top we were lucky to get dub techno monolith Steve O’Sullivan – Mosaic Records to take on the remix controls. And we could not be happier with the outcome of this wizzard’s magic. The transparent light green vinyl is already sitting at #2 at the overall and #1 on the dub techno buzz charts at decks.de. The vinly is available at decks.de and deejay.de plus more to follow. Links in the first comment!

I am happy and proud to announce my upcoming ep that is very special to me as it has new sparks on so many levels. First of all it is a collaborational ep with my dear friend Tim Kossmann. We already created music more than 20 years ago. Now and finally we have our first joint ep to be released with tunes that touch our heart.
Furthermore contributed no one else than Mosaic and bluetrain founder and dub techno monolith Steve O‘Sullivan a remix that is truly presenting what Steve‘s productions are about: reduced, effective and deep groovy dub techno.
This ep marks also a new chapter for me as an artist but also for my label Van Bonn Records as this is the first release of a series of collaborations with great artists and techno music creators.
Last but not least did Van Bonn Records find a new home and partner for distribution with the mighty wordandsound

Released: 10 years ago I released my debut dub techno ep called Maserung / Schwerpunkt on Telrae. It was the beginning of a great journey for Van Bonn through many different facets and styles of dub techno and related techno vibes. Today my debut ep is rereleased digitally on Van Bonn Records and can be found on many streaming and download platforms.
Apart from the new artwork remains the ep untouched: the original master keep the original sound alive and the remix by Organon is still digging deep. Looking back and listening to my debut ep after its release one decade ago, it shows once more, how timeless dub techno is. And the journey of Van Bonn is just about to enter the next chapter.
